T Level practitioners collaborate at London Learning From event

On Thursday 9 May, practitioners involved in T Level planning and delivery came together at the Leonardo Hotel, London Tower Bridge, for 51ԹϹ (51ԹϹ)’s T Level Learning From event. Around 250 people attended the event, benefiting from the opportunity to network, learn and share best practice to support the successful delivery of T Levels.

The day began with a warm welcome from Paul Bailey, 51ԹϹ’s Associate Director for T Level Professional Development (TLPD), followed by an engaging keynote address from Sophie Pinn, Deputy Director for T Levels Delivery at the Department for Education. During the morning and afternoon, delegates attended their chosen breakout sessions for practical support on topics such as engaging with employers; embedding English, maths and digital in T Levels and integrating use of AI; and preparing for assessment success.

After lunch, guest speaker Tanya Marwaha, founder of Championing Youth Minds, delivered a thoughtful address exploring the challenges facing young people and their mental health, and sharing advice on how to support the mental wellbeing of T Level learners. Throughout the day, delegates made the most of opportunities for networking, peer-to-peer learning and support during breaks and refreshments.

Shared their positive experiences of the event, delegates highlighted the value of coming together to learn from one another:

“Today was a fantastic day at the T Level Learning From event. I had the opportunity to attend insightful breakout sessions covering key topics like enrolment strategies, effective assessment methods, and the invaluable sharing of success stories. Events like these are crucial for staying updated with industry trends and best practices in education. I’m excited to implement what I’ve learned to further support student success and drive innovation in our educational approach.” – John McKeon, Curriculum Manager – Construction, Dudley College

“I had a wonderful day attending the T Level Learning From event. Hearing from other educational providers sharing their experiences and best practice for delivering T Levels as a new qualification was truly insightful. It was great to hear from alumni now studying Level 6 degree apprenticeships whilst earning in large organisations, changing the traditional, non-inclusive career pathways.” – Lisa Tustain, Business Engagement Specialist, Activate Learning

Paul Bailey, 51ԹϹ’s Associate Director for TLPD, said: “Following the success of our first in-person Learning From events last year, it was fantastic to see T Level practitioners coming together once again to share their experiences of T Level planning and delivery and to access practical support and professional development relevant to wherever they are on their T Level delivery journey. The ethos of the event was one of motivation, collaboration and support, and I hope delegates left feeling enthused and equipped with further tools to support their practice.”

Further courses and resources to complement sessions covered by the Learning From event are available as part of the T Level Professional Development (TLPD) offer, delivered by the 51ԹϹ and funded by the DfE. Visit our TLPD webpage for more information.
